Top Three ThursdayWelcome to my Thursday feature. Here’s where I link three useful and interesting articles from excellent information sources all about social media and marketing subjects.

As you know, changes are always happening in the world of social media. We have a lot to keep up with!

Social media has past the point of simply being a hobby and is now a standard for business. Proof of that is how social is impacting our companies. Mashable lists some of these impacts in their latest, “5 Powerful Ways Social Media Has Forever Altered The Way We Do Business.” How many of them have already affected the way you work?

Facebook, with its 50 million+ business pages, seems to know what it takes to keep being successful. Now Facebook Is Wooing Small Businesses in order to increase the popularity of its advertising platform since only 3 million of those business pages are currently paying for ads. Forbes is predicting that Facebook ads will be one of the next avenues of growth for this social media standout.

Sounds like Twitter is looking to get into the live video market in a big way by launching apps to stream video on TV. CNBC reported that the company is introducing new live streaming video apps for Apple, Xbox, and Amazon – incorporating NFL games into their offerings. This is quite the switch from the social platform’s branding so watching where the site goes next should be interesting.

As you know, changes are always happening in the world of social media. We have a lot to keep up with!

Facebook is making changes again. This time, they’re focusing on the video platform. Ariel Bogle from Mashable.com warns “Grab Your Headphones: Facebook is Testing Video with Autoplay Sound”. This is very important for mobile users and those who tend to go through Social Media while multitasking on other projects. There are ways to prevent sound from playing, so make sure you follow Ariel’s suggestions.

Are you a Snapchat user? If so, David Cohen from Adweek.com has a great article on the latest updates in “Snapchat Makes On-Demand Geofilters More Accessible with Templates, New Features”. Some of the biggest changes involve customization of snaps in both text and colorization. David has great snap examples highlighting each change.

Twitter is making changes with their video ad options. According to Andrew Hutchinson’s article: “Twitter Announces New Monetization Options for Video Creators”, big changes are on the way for both Vine and Twitter. The SocialMediaToday.com article highlights Twitter’s 5-point plan to reinvigorate their platform. Surprisingly, the new incentive program surpasses YouTube’s rates. The most intriguing aspect is their Media Studio, which replaces video.twitter.com. I’m very interested in diving into the new tools and functions. What about you?

As you know, changes are always happening in the world of social media. We have a lot to keep up with!

Sometimes an older social media platform comes onto our scope that we’re not really sure how to use. Reddit is one of those places. It’s tough to jump into Reddit and pursue self-promotion, but you can build brand loyalty and trust. Mark Schaefer from BusinessGrow.com gives us “A Reasonable Guide to Reddit for Marketers.” His pointers are crucial in launching successfully on Reddit.

Are you interested in using video in Twitter Ads but are unsure where to start? Carolyn Berk from Social Media Examiner gives us four great examples in her article “4 Ways to Use Video in Twitter Ads.” She even provides a great set of tips for making successful ads, and provides powerful brand examples. Since 82% of Twitter users watch video content, this is something you definitely want to check out.

Have you ever used Facebook Slideshow Ads? Facebook rolled it out last October as a way for marketers to create videos out of still images. The new features make it something you should try out. David Cohen of Adweek.com has the scoop with “Facebook Slideshow Ads Get Several New Features.” Two of my favorite new additions are the ability to create slideshows on the go with Android mobile devices as well as the ability to turn videos into slide shows for users with low bandwidth connections.
